Dr. Anand V.R. is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Photonic Research Centre (PRC), TU Dublin. His current research mainly focuses on the development of efficient fiber optic sensors for microfluidic platforms. He earned his B.Sc (2011) in Electronics and M.Sc (2013) in Electronics from MG University and Cochin University of Science and Technology, respectively. He did his PhD (2021) at the International School of Photonics, Cochin University of Science and Technology. His doctoral research focuses on developing efficient tunable microlasers and sensors using optical fibre-based Whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonators. After obtaining his PhD, he joined the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (DRDO) as an engineer (Photonics) in developing efficient fibre optic hydrophones. After that, he joined the Department of Instrumentation and Applied Physics, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India as a project associate. His research at IISc focuses on developing and testing advanced fiber optic sensor systems for underwater acoustic measurements. He has diverse research expertise, from fabrication and characterizing fibre optic sensors and microcavity lasers to modelling and fabricating Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based underwater acoustic sensors. Proficient in operating and maintaining high-power nanosecond and picosecond lasers, high-resolution spectrometers and CCDs, Optical Spectrum analyzers, and FBG Interrogators. He published nine research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and ten research articles in conference proceedings.
