Description
XV Festival Corde d'Autunno in MilanoIts 15th edition, the International Classical Guitar Festival “Corde d’Autunno” returns to the Asteria Cultural Center in Milan from November 22 to 24, 2024.
Promoted by the Asteria Cultural Center and under the artistic direction of Enrica Savigni and Marco Ramelli, Corde d’Autunno offers three days dedicated to music, art, and culture, promising an extraordinary celebration of youth creativity and artistic collaboration on both national and international levels.
The festival aims to nurture emerging talent and build an artistic community to create an ecosystem where creativity and innovation can thrive, supporting young talents.
THE PROGRAM
The festival kicks off on Friday, November 22, at 4:30 PM with a performance by Duo Confluence (guitar and saxophone), winners of the 2023 "Residenze Erranti" project. This will be followed at 7:30 PM by the internationally renowned Duo Maccari-Pugliese, celebrated for their performances on historical instruments.
On Saturday, November 23, the day begins with a special meeting featuring deaf cellist Giulia Mazza and the Residenze Erranti artists on the theme "Hearing Without Hearing." Giulia will explore her relationship with sound through musical examples, demonstrating how sound can be experienced as vibration.
The day will also include a series of tactile workshops where the audience can explore the luthiery exhibition by touching instruments and discovering how they vibrate, guided by expert musicians and luthiers.
The evening will culminate in a prestigious event: a concert by Paraguayan virtuoso Berta Rojas, featuring a program dedicated to Agustín Barrios Mangoré and Ida Presti.
On Sunday, November 24, the day focuses on ensemble music. The morning will feature Andrea De Vitis performing alongside the Residenze Erranti artists with a contemporary improvisational repertoire.
In the afternoon, the Pepita Orchestra, conducted by Paolo De Lorenzi—a youth orchestra inspired by the Venezuelan model—will perform with Residenze Erranti artist Davide Dipilato, who will play a composition by Joaquín Rodrigo, the renowned blind Spanish composer.
The festival will conclude with a screening of the film "Gloria!" by the talented musician and filmmaker Margherita Vicario. This film, which competed at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, is set in Venetian orphanages of the late 1700s and innovatively addresses social themes such as feminism and women’s desire to express themselves through their musical talent.
A CULTURAL LANDMARK IN MILAN
Corde d’Autunno stands out on Milan's cultural scene as a key reference for classical and contemporary guitar, while also embracing other arts. The choice of venue is another distinctive feature: the Asteria Cultural Center Theatre, located in District 5 of Milan, offers an alternative to the city's usual central locations, anchoring the festival in a vibrant and dynamic neighborhood.
THE "RESIDENZE ERRANTI" PROJECT
An integral part of the festival is Residenze Erranti, a pioneering initiative by the Asteria Cultural Center in Milan and Barco Teatro in Padua. It supports creative projects by young artists under the age of 35, particularly those linked to the guitar, who perform during the festival.
The project fosters a space for dialogue and collaboration within a micro-musical community, promoting listening and sharing of diverse experiences. These meetings take place on weekends throughout the year and combine concerts, workshops, and roundtables, weaving together words and music to stimulate exchange and communication among participants.
This year, many of the Residenze Erranti artists will have the unique opportunity to perform on an international stage, opening for renowned musicians such as Duo Maccari-Pugliese and Berta Rojas.
