Description

TU Dublin Conservatoire screened a documentary as part of the 2024 Dublin Festival of History, exploring the history of St Brendan’s Hospital Grangegorman, in relation to the site’s new role as a university. The history is seen through the lens of Colin Murphy’s play The Asylum Workshop, commissioned by the Conservatoire and written for and performed by the Conservatoire’s final-year Drama students. Contributors in the documentary include: Brendan Kelly (Professor of Psychiatry in TCD); Brian Donnelly (Senior Archivist, National Archives); Mary E. Daly (Emeritus Professor of History, UCD); James Mary O’Connor (architect of the masterplan for TU Dublin Grangegorman); and playwright Colin Murphy. Documentary by Gansee Films.
