This conference explored Franco-Irish collaboration on energy, with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and policy and highlighted the depth of cross-national cooperation and academic engagement in the field of energy. The event was opened by Dr Eamon Maher, Dr Orla McDonagh (Dean of Arts and Humanities, TU Dublin), and Dr Brian A. Murphy (TU Dublin).

The morning keynote, delivered by Professor Brian Norton (UCC), addressed interconnection, energy storage, and renewable energy systems, chaired by Dr Dominic Dillane (TU Dublin). This was followed by a round table discussion on "Generating and Sustaining Energies," chaired by Dr Sarah Nolan (IADT), with contributions from Ms Áine Murray (French-Irish Chamber/Veolia), Mr Pat Kelly (DFA), and Mr Glenn Carr (Rosslare Europort).

After lunch, Professor Eugene O’Brien (MIC) delivered a keynote on "Energy as Symbolic Capital," chaired by Dr Eamon Maher. The afternoon panel, chaired by Dr Charles Larkin (University of Bath), focused on ensuring EU energy sovereignty through Franco-Irish collaboration. Speakers included Mr Michael Mahon (EirGrid), Ms Aine O’Mahony (French Embassy), Dr Shane Colclough (UCD), Dr Brian Ó Gallachóir (UCC), and Dr Roman Le Goff Latimier (ENS Rennes), addressing topics from decarbonisation to citizen energy communities.

The day concluded with closing remarks from His Excellency Vincent Guérend, French Ambassador to Ireland and Dr Elaine Mahon, hosted by Dr Charles Larkin.
