A roundtable discussion with Nicholas Fox Weber, Director of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, Fiona Kearney, Director of the Glucksman, and artist Brian Fay whose work is on display in our current exhibition Selected Works from the UCC Art Collection.

Brian Fay's work, AA Open Letter PNG, 2022, currently on display as a part of our current exhibition Selected Works from the UCC Art Collection, combines the depiction of an abstract weaving with with a portrait of the renowned artist Anni Albers, widely considered to be the foremost textile designer of the 20th century. In this drawing, Fay recognises and celebrates the structural as well as perceptual innovation pioneered by Anni Albers in her works, and invites us to consider the the interface between art and technology, object and subject, and tactile and digital formats.

Nicholas Fox Weber is Director of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, perpetuating the vision of Anni and Josef Albers through exhibitions, publications, education, and outreach concomitant with the Alberses’ personal values. Weber recently authored the first major biography on the textile artist, Anni Albers: A Life, which traces the complex personality and influential artistic career of the groundbreaking modern artist.
